Stare Miasto w Krakowie to tętniąca, intensywnie zabudowana dzielnica przepełniona zabytkami, która stanowi jeden z najchętniej uczęszczany przez mieszkańców i turystów obszar. Otoczona jest parkiem, znanym jako Planty, który obecnie oprócz funkcji rekreacyjnych nadaje Krakowowi „oddechu” podobnie jak pobliski teren nad Wisłą. Mimo tego obie części miasta nie wykazują ze sobą istotniejszych połączeń. Elementem o dużym potencjale zespolenia tych dwóch obszarów są z pewnością tereny zieleni. Co zrobić z obszarami o zupełnie innej narracji, aby je do siebie zbliżyć, pamiętając, że ograniczenia przestrzenne nie pozwalają na zbyt dużą ingerencję? Propozycją projektu jest stworzenie spójnego ponad 4 kilometrowego ciągu w centrum miasta, będącego jednocześnie systemem przestrzenno – przyrodniczym. Do tej pory wykorzystywany ciąg spacerowy stałby się dzikim rezerwatem bujnej zieleni będącym naturalnym katalizatorem dla zmian klimatycznych oraz siedliskiem dla różnych zwierząt. Nad założeniem znajdowałaby się kładka oplatająca Stare Miasto biegnąca ponad dachami i konarami drzew, będąca elementem spajającym dwa obszary, tworząc ciąg widokowy rozprzestrzeniający się na Kraków i okolice.

The Old Town in Krakow is a lively, intensively built-up district full of monuments, which is one of the area most frequented by locals and tourists. It is surrounded by a park, known as Planty, which currently, in addition to recreational functions, gives Krakow "breath" as does the nearby area on the Vistula. Despite this, both parts of the city do not have significant connections with each other. Green areas are certainly an element with high fusion potential of these two areas. What to do with areas with a completely different narrative to bring them closer together, remembering that space constraints do not allow too much interference? The project's proposal is to create a coherent over 4-kilometer route in the city center, which is also a spatial and natural system. Until now, the walking route used would become a wild lush green nature reserve being a natural catalyst for climate change and a habitat for various animals. Above the assumption there would be a footbridge surrounding the Old Town running over the roofs and branches of trees, being an element joining two areas, creating a viewing line spreading to Krakow and the surrounding area.

Inspiracją do zaprojektowanego przebiegu kładki były nieistniejące już mury miejskie. Niegdyś oddzielające miasto od rzeki, przeznaczone do jego ochrony – dzisiaj niespotykana atrakcja miejska łącząca te dwa obszary i szanująca jego historię. Wejścia zlokalizowane zostały w miejscach starych bram (6) oraz rampach skierowanych w kierunku Wisły (4). Wraz z basztami stanowią główny element konstrukcyjny. Ich trzony mogą być dowolnie uzupełniane funkcjami np. toaletą publiczną, sklepikami, infrastrukturą dla mieszkańców, miejscami wypoczynku czy szklarniami. Zakłada się, że całość założenia zrealizowana zostanie modułowo, co ułatwi budowę i konserwację elementów.

The design of the footbridge was inspired by the city walls that no longer exist. Once separating the city from the river, intended for its protection - today an unprecedented city attraction connecting these two areas and respecting its history. The entrances were located in the places of old gates (6) and ramps directed towards the Vistula (4). Together with the towers, they constitute the main structural element. Their core can be freely supplemented with functions, e.g. a public toilet, shops, infrastructure for residents, resting places or greenhouses. It is assumed that the whole assumption will be implemented modularly, which will facilitate the construction and maintenance of elements.
